From: Jeremy Wilson and Chris Carpenter

Dear Fellow Adwords Affiliate Marketer,

Let’s cut to the chase.  You’ve heard the countless rags to riches stories about people making money online.  You’ve heard the hype.  You’ve doubted they hype.  You’ve wanted to believe the hype.

I know, because I’ve been there.

The year was 2003.  I hated my job (despite the good pay) was broke with close to $15,000.00 of high interest credit card debt, and spent my time trying to figure out if all the talk about making legitimate money online was possible while spending money to have my classified ad sent out to “over 1 million” people with dreams of instant riches (not hard to see why I was in debt, huh?).

In short, I was confused, overwhelmed and paralyzed into not taking any action for fear of even greater failure.

The main problem I was faced with as I reflect back on things was that I was pulled in too many directions by all the different methods you can go about making money online.  I wanted to do them all but was so overwhelmed that I did nothing but sit around and make plans (aka, untidy stacks of notes, outlines, and product ideas that looked good but never got implemented.  Sound familiar?) about what I was going to do to build this site, write these articles, craft this sales letter, create that product, etc.

Almost none of these things got done.

It wasn’t until I realized that in order to succeed and make any sort of forward progress with my internet marketing dreams I must focus my efforts on just a single method of marketing and became an expert with that technique. Only once I master one things would I have the confidence and experience to branch out into other forms of marketing.

For me, this chosen method is affiliate marketing and more specifically affiliate marketing with Google Adwords and Pay Per Click search engines.

Because I’ve taken so long to get to this point in my personal history, the bare facts are that I have been a full time affiliate marketer using only Google Adwords and other pay per click search engines like Yahoo Search Marketing for 3 years and hope to have my first six figure ($100,000+) month (after advertising expenses) by the end of this year.  It’s in sight!!

Great for me, but what does this have to do with you?

In 3 years A LOT has changed in the
Adwords affiliate marketing world.

Since starting with Adwords affiliate marketing there have been numerous changes and roadblocks which require continually evolving by the Adwords affiliate.

To name just a few:

·         Skyrocketing keyword prices and fewer cheap clicks

·         Mammoth increases in competition

·         Smarter and more seasoned competitors

·         More companies restricting affiliate activities

·         Bigger businesses and fortune 500 companies continue to squeeze out the “small guy”

·         Google placing restrictions on affiliates (one ad per domain)

These things aren’t meant to discourage you or scare you but illustrate the rapid pace at which things change online and the importance of being able to constantly adapt to these changes.

The biggest blow to AdWords affiliate marketers was the last item on the list: “Google placing restrictions on affiliates (one ad per domain)”

Let’s take a step back and explain what this means.

Before Google implemented their affiliate policy changes just about anybody could sign up for an affiliate program, get their affiliate link, head over to Google, start a new campaign and write and ad that sent anyone who clicked on it directly to the merchant they were promoting.

It was the most amazingly simple marketing concept for several reasons:

This was the perfect marketing system, fast efficient and it worked like gang busters!  It worked so well that it got to the point where it was not uncommon to see 5 or 6 ads promoting the same merchant.  The market became more saturated and Google felt this "ad saturation" harmed the quality of their search engine.  As a result they changed their guidelines to only allow one advertiser per domain.

Essentially this eliminated all of the ads promoting the same products services and web sites and created an environment affiliates were fighting for their ads to be shown and led some to believe the end of Adwords affiliate marketing was upon us.

Direct To Merchant Adwords Affiliate
Marketing is Alive and Well!!!!

Concerns over Google's affiliate policy changes are legitimate as most concerns are whenever an established system faces new changes and uncharted waters.  But I can say with absolute certainty linking directly to a merchant's website from your Google ads still works to the very day.

Better yet, I'll offer some proof.

Since July of 2003 I have been promoting a merchant by doing nothing more than linking directly to their web site form my Adwords ads.  Here is a screenshot that was included in a special report I wrote for the ebook Google Cash.

Here is a recent screenshot taken from my stats for the very same merchant:

Overall things are pretty much the same traffic, revenue and profit wise.   But what you will notice is that the volume of leads is significantly lower today than back in 2003.

Rather than being a bad thing, this is a perfect case study, into the evolutionary changes affiliate marketing has undergone in recent years.

You see, over time the number of affiliates and the amount of competition has increased while the amount of advertising space has stayed the same.  Essentially you have more people competing for limited ad inventory.  The result is that the overall number of leads that I have generated for the merchant above has decreased as more advertisers are bidding on the same keywords and "taking" some of the traffic and sales away from my campaigns.

Despite this you can see that the overall revenue from month to month has remained about the same. But how can this be?  The total leads generated have been cut in half!!

This fact worried me too until I started to see it across other campaigns.  You see not only has it become more competitive for affiliates but it is equally if not more competitive for merchants running affiliate programs to capture the attention of affiliates and get them to promote their products and services.

As a result, many merchants have increased commissions, improved tracking capabilities for their affiliates, and have focused more on better conversion rates resulting in affiliates being able to make more money, experience higher conversions, with less traffic and less sales volume and still remain profitable.

This is exactly what has happened in the screenshots of my statistics above.  In order to keep me and others on as affiliates this company has worked to improve every facet of their affiliate program and the #1 reason why sending traffic directly to a merchant's site from your Adwords ad still works

This leads to a very important question:

How can you make more sales and higher commissions despite having less traffic and more competition?

Now, don't get me wrong.  It's great to keep your income and profits consistent but it really bothered me to see the overall number of sales drop because it's almost impossible not to think about what things could be.

You start to do the math. You realize that if your sales volume was the same you could be making twice as much money each and every month.  It's enough to keep you awake at night :-)

As I was considering these things, there was more and more talk in the affiliate marketing world about using landing pages to send your Adwords traffic to and then send people to the merchant's site you are promoting from your landing page.

Landing pages are nothing more than a webpage where you send your pay per click traffic to (it is the page people land on after they click your ad, hence the name "landing page").

The concept sounds simple but it goes against everything you love about the "direct to merchant" model.

Using landing pages you need to build a web page, register a domain, create some content, and get a web host.

Because of this and because it was a new concept that I was unfamiliar with I spent over a year resisting change, dismissing landing pages and ultimately holding my business back.

Until finally I bit the bullet, stoppe procrastinating and started using some landing pages.

For over a year now, I've been testing and tweaking my landing pages, and in some cases I've lost money to learn lessons the hard way.

Introducing the Landing Page Brain Dump.

How much does click through rate to the merchant drop when you add a landing page?

= Most important money making tips (if nothing else listen to these answers!)

All these question and more are answered in this 150 minute recording!

Look.  If you are serious about affiliate marketing with adwords or any other pay per click search engine you need to seriously consider implementing lading pages into your marketing efforts.

Landing pages enable you to go after more competitive markets, bid on more expensive and highly sought after keywords (and be ranked on the first page of results) and still turn a profit month after month.

Please understand that while you can profitably compete in competitive markets using higher priced keywords you still need to have the money to cover your expenses.  Landing pages do not magically reduce expenses but rather allow you to covert a high enough percentage of this traffic to enable you to make more money than you spend.

So if the competitive markets sound a bit risky to you, landing pages still perform wonderfully with the lower priced and less risky niche keywords that can be found in any market.

The bottom line is that landing pages are the ultimate marketing tool for affiliate pay per click marketers that can turn a direct to merchant campaign into overdrive whether you are a seasoned marketing veteran or a beginner just starting out these strategies will work for you.

Despite this are you....
